Underserved Populations Project (UPP)

The Underserved Populations Project (UPP) was undertaken to develop strategies to increase access to genetic services for individuals in rural, Hispanic, and American Indian communities in the Mountain States.  Working with genetics providers, primary care providers, and consumers, the MSRGN project team developed methods, reviewed literature, summarized publicly available demographic data, conducted provider and consumer interviews, and developed recommendations for interventions for communities in Tuba City, AZ, Durango, and Grand Junction, CO, and San Antonio, TX.  This report summarizes the methods, literature review and demographic information from the UPP project. Recommendations for implementation will be forthcoming, get involved with MSRGN to learn more or to get involved in projects like this.
