With advances in Genetic testing, an understanding of genetic principles is becoming an increasingly important part of healthcare. Genetic testing is changing the way physicians are diagnosing certain diseases, but also raises important ethical issues regarding unexpected findings and informed consent. These advances can place clinicians in a better position to understand prognosis and communicate this information to patients and families.
